CREW COUNT™
You do not need to meet a thousand new people. You need to COUNT the people you already have.
CREW COUNT is a relationship-mapping method for seeing the people, places and organizations already in your world—and deciding what relationship work comes before the ask.
The method
COUNT gives you a way to look backward before you reach outward. It helps you see what is already there, what may connect to one goal and whether the relationship is ready for an ask.
Collect
List the people, schools, workplaces, organizations and communities already in your world—including people you have not talked to in a long time.
Organize
For each person, name their world, your connection, what you share and where you stand.
Uncover
Start with one goal. Look across the map for a person, place, path or piece of information that may move you closer.
Nurture
Choose the honest relationship path: maintain, reconnect, repair or stop. Thank-you first. Never begin with an ask.
Trust
Ask both questions: Do I trust them? Do they trust me? If trust is depleted, there is work to do before the ask.

It started with my own crew.
While I was building Joli Jaunts, my children’s book company, I needed a mountain of help I could not pay for. At 3 a.m., the answer landed: I did not need another networking event or one big break. I needed the people I already had.
I pulled my contacts, then every school I had attended and every group I had joined. Almost 1,000 contacts emerged. I was not behind. I was rich. I had simply never counted.
But finding the people was only half the work. CREW COUNT became the method for deciding who may connect to a goal—and how to treat the relationship before making an ask.
My own map. Every dot represents a real person; no private details are shown here.

You can build your own CREW COUNT, or use it to help a room full of people see the connections already around them.

See the CREW COUNT Switchboard.
For groups of up to 20 participants, a host can give every guest one custom event page that helps them start with a goal, explore the people in the room and spot a possible path they may not have seen.
1. Start with one goal.
See the whole room without sorting through a stack of bios.
2. Explore one connection.
See why a person may matter to the goal.
3. Open their world.
Find a possible path—and what to give or repair before asking.
This is a fictional sample. Every name, role and connection shown in these images is made up. A real Switchboard is planned with the host, built for the specific group and never a promise that anyone will help.
What could your existing world make possible?
